Meet our founder, Mel.

Melissa’s career in tourism and hospitality began in Ecuador in 2017, working across sales and marketing before bringing that experience to Australia.

After several years in the corporate world, Melissa moved into freelance social media marketing in 2022, working closely with travel, hospitality and touring production brands. Over time, she noticed a recurring disconnect: remarkable experiences, thoughtful teams and extraordinary destinations weren’t always being translated to social media with the same care or clarity.

She also saw social media being treated as something brands simply needed to keep up with, rather than an important part of how travellers discover, understand and ultimately choose a place to stay or an adventure.

That became the foundation for The Social Compass Studio — a specialist social media agency built for the industry that shaped our founder’s career from the beginning.

Based in Melbourne, TSCS works with travel and hospitality brands across Australia and internationally.

At TSCS, social media is treated as part of the wider marketing picture.
